User’s Voice: Ian Williams – CS-281WES and CS-361WES
Ian Williams, professional chainsaw carver is an avid user of ECHO power tools and here’s why!
Having been chainsaw carving full time for the last two and a half years, Ian was introduced to ECHO power tools specifically chainsaws following reviews from American chainsaw carvers on YouTube® and other social media. He needed a small saw for detail work to replace a Stihl MS170 so he decided to give the CS-281WES a try and see how it felt, after not having tried any ECHO products at this point.
“When my ECHO saw arrived I was immediately impressed with how light it was. I replaced the stock bar with a cannon dime tip as I would be using the saw for detailed work. It was easy to start running on Aspen fuel and just the right power range for the bar and chain combination. I didn’t want to put this saw down and since the purchase I have sold my MS 170 and MS 150. I was so impressed I bought a second CS-281WES as a back-up saw.
Due to the light weight and responsiveness of the 281 I decided to try the CS-361WES as my main carving saw, more power so I could use a larger bar, 14 ins cannon Q tip. I bought this combination in January this year in preparation for the 2018 shows and competitions, it has become my ‘go to saw’ once I have blocked out the carving with the bigger saw, I go straight for the 361, perfect balance of power and lightweight, resulting in this saw undertaking 80% of the carving work throughout this season. I will be purchasing another CS-361WES in preparation for next year.
I cannot fault either the CS-281WES or the more powerful CS-361WES, they suit my carving by being reliable and easy to start; powerful enough for the bar chain combination I put on them and so light and easy to work with.”
